Choose the output frame before the source image
The source image is the first frame the video model must understand. If its composition fights the selected output ratio, the workflow may need to crop, pad, or reinterpret important areas before motion even begins.
Decide where the finished clip will be viewed, then choose a source that already fits that shape. A portrait image is usually the cleanest starting point for 9:16, a balanced central composition works well in 1:1, and a wider scene gives 16:9 more room to move.
Leave room for the intended movement
A motion template describes change across several frames. Give that movement space to happen. A subject pressed against an edge can leave the frame when the camera pans, while a very tight crop gives the model less visual context for body position and background continuity.
Look at the template preview before choosing the source. If the motion travels left, right, upward, or toward the camera, keep enough clear space in that direction and avoid cutting through the main subject at the image boundary.

Use a clear and stable source

Choose one well-exposed frame with consistent focus. Check the actual uploaded preview rather than the thumbnail, because a small card can hide blur, cropping, and compression artifacts that become obvious during animation.
Match 9:16, 1:1, or 16:9 deliberately
Aspect ratio changes more than the container around a clip. It changes how much of the source survives, where the subject sits, and how much space remains for camera or body movement.
- Use 9:16 for portrait sources and mobile-first vertical viewing.
- Use 1:1 for compact compositions and flexible grid previews.
- Use 16:9 for wider scenes, multiple subjects, or horizontal motion.

Confirm age, consent, and permission before upload
Image quality does not make a source acceptable to use. Every depicted person must be an adult who consented to the intended transformation, and you must have the right to upload the image. Do not use minors, age-ambiguous subjects, public figures, deceptive deepfakes, or non-consensual intimate material.
These checks belong before generation because a template cannot establish identity, age, ownership, or consent for you. If any of those facts are uncertain, choose a different source.
